If you have three or four video calls a day, you probably don't think about how you get into each one. But add it up: finding the right calendar event, opening the link, waiting for the tab to load, clicking "Join" — that's a small task repeated dozens of times a week, at exactly the moments you're most likely to be switching contexts between other work.

What manual joining actually costs

Context switching. Every manual step — finding the event, copying a link, opening a new tab — pulls attention away from whatever you were doing right before the meeting.

We're intentionally precise about that "Clicking Join" row: full click-to-join automation is validated and reliable for Google Meet today. Zoom support is a work-in-progress prototype, and Microsoft Teams meetings open automatically but still require a manual click for now. Is it worth it?

If most of your meetings are on Google Meet, automatic joining removes the task entirely. If you're mostly on Zoom or Teams, you still get the tab opened for you at the right time — which alone removes the "did I remember to check my calendar" step, even before you click "Join" yourself.
