How to Connect Google Calendar to Auto Join Meetings (Step-by-Step)

Connecting Google Calendar is the first thing to do after installing Auto Join Meetings — it's what lets the extension see your upcoming meetings and start opening them for you automatically. The whole process takes a couple of minutes. Here's exactly how it works.

Before You Start

You'll need the Auto Join Meetings Chrome extension installed and a Google account with a calendar that has meetings on it (Google Meet, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams links all work). If you haven't installed the extension yet, do that first.

Step-by-Step: Connecting Google Calendar

Install the extension. Get Auto Join Meetings from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to your toolbar.
Open the extension popup by clicking its icon, then choose to connect a Google account.
Sign in and grant calendar access. You'll go through Google's standard sign-in flow and be asked to allow Auto Join Meetings to read your calendar events.
Check your upcoming meetings. Once connected, your next Google Calendar events with a detected meeting link (Google Meet, Zoom, or Teams) will show up in the extension.
Let it run in the background. A few minutes before each meeting, Auto Join Meetings opens the tab for you automatically — no need to go find the invite.

What Happens After You Connect

Once Google Calendar is connected, the extension detects the meeting link on each event and opens that meeting's tab automatically a few minutes before it starts. On the Free plan, that covers up to 3 automatic joins per day; Basic ($5/month) removes that limit. For Google Meet specifically, Basic also clicks "Join now" for you and confirms you're actually in the call — Zoom and Microsoft Teams still need a manual click today, as covered in our Google Meet auto-click explainer.
